Moonpointe's eating disorder treatment staff consists of clinical psychologists, master's level therapists, and dieticians, as well as skilled movement instructors. Dr. Anita Johnston, world renowned eating disorder specialist, provides weekly phone consultations with the entire team.
Moonpointe's two eating disorder treatment programs share a similar structure. Each consists of 3 three-hour group sessions per week for a total of 9 hours. Evening sessions provide intensive outpatient treatment with the least amount of disruption to work, school, or family schedules. The groups are “open,” with new women coming in as other women move on to less intensive levels of care.
The program is structured so that eating disorder patients can continue to receive therapy from their individual therapists who may be treating depression, anxiety, or trauma issues. In the event that patients are in need of additional treatment for dual diagnosis, family issues, or medication assessment and do not already have a therapist or treating physician, they are referred to an appropriate health care professional.
